The simple stuff

What makes you laugh?

It’s rarely the grand gesture. It’s the small, human stuff — the things that catch you off guard because they’re so perfectly, recognisably life.
Someone saying ‘boooo’ when time has run out or an answer they understand but don’t want. Not mean. Not at anyone. Just a little protest at the universe, shared with whoever happens to be nearby. There’s something wonderfully honest about it.
Or the look. You know the one. No words needed. Just two people clocking the same moment simultaneously and acknowledging, with nothing more than a slight raise of the eyebrow, that yes — they both saw that. Yes — it was exactly as ridiculous as it seemed.

A grandma looking up, literally to a grandson, one getting taller and the other seemingly, shorter.
Humour that connects rather than excludes. The kind that says we’re all in this together, navigating the absurdity of the everyday with as much grace as we can muster — which, let’s be honest, isn’t always very much.
That’s what gets me. Every time.
